At the Yugambeh Museum Language and Heritage Research Centre, we interviewed artist Madeline Hodge who discussed the men that went to war from the families around the Gold Coast, including George Hamilton Graham, and her depiction of these men in a series of compelling paintings.

We also heard from Kathryn Jarrett who discussed her father Arthur George Jarrett’s service in World War 2 in New Guinea and its effects on her and her family’s life. Narelle Urquhart spoke to us about the World War 2 service of her grandfather, Cecil Clayton, who was a ‘Rat of Tobruk’ but returned home to neglect and rejection.

In Beenleigh we also saw photos of one of the earliest Anzac marches in Brisbane led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and National Indigenous Television (NITV) also visited us to record a story on the project.
