Tracey Hoffman

Tracey Hoffman talks about her time in the Navy as a nurse in peacetime operations. She speaks about her love of the Navy and the sea, and the professional satisfaction and rewards of Navy travel and work including many cross-cultural experiences and challenges. Tracey also speaks about her family’s service as both her sons, her husband and her sister have served in the Australian Army and Navy, and indeed she also speaks briefly about a family member she has only recently become aware of who served and reportedly died in Belgium in World War 1. Pride in defence service for Australia is the central theme of this interview, and Tracey speaks about her pride in service being made even deeper and richer through the particular qualities she has brought to her Navy role, as a woman, an indigenous woman, and as a mother. Tracey also speaks about her current involvement with the Defence Indigenous Recruiting Program, and her passion for Army dogs.
