Edna Coolburra

Edna Coolburra discusses the service of her husband Billy Coolburra in the Vietnam War and in Malaya. Bill served in Vietnam with the engineers attached to 1RAR in 1965–66. After returning from Vietnam, Bill and Edna were married and Bill was posted to Malaya soon after, and Edna accompanied him. Edna discusses life in Malaya, including their friends and Bill playing sport and drinking with other soldiers. After his time in the Army, Edna suggests that Bill faced some problems in relation to his service in Vietnam, although she does not detail what these are. Nonetheless, Bill was an active member of the veteran community, and attended Anzac Day marches. The interview ends with a discussion of Bill’s funeral in 2009.
