Daphne Lowe

Daphne Lowe

Daphne Lowe speaks briefly in this interview about her uncle Leo Lovett who served in Korea, and other family members who may have served. The interview is primarily conducted with Daphne’s husband Robert Lowe who talks about his uncle Norman John ‘Piebald’ Clarke who served in the Army during World War 2. Uncle Norman did not ever speak to Robert about his service, indeed Robert only learned of his uncle’s service as a result of his involvement in research into the wider history of Aboriginal soldiers from the southwest of Victoria, which resulted in regional Victoria’s first dedicated memorial to Aboriginal soldiers, unveiled in Warnambool in 2010, and which Robert speaks about at length in this interview.
