The histories and experiences of Indigenous American and Australian servicemen in the Vietnam war have remained on the margins in the historiography of the war. Noah Riseman compares the experiences of Native Americans with those of indigenous Australians who served in the war. Differences in scale and commitment aside, indigenous Australians stood out as a racial minority in the Australian armed forces while Native Americans constituted one demographic among other non-white soldiers in the US armed forces.
