Dawn Conlan's interview in Newcastle

Dawn Conlan discusses her family history of service, including that of her Great Uncle Maurice Wright who served in World War 2 and was held captive as a POW in Changi. Dawn has undertaken much family history research in recent years to discover this history of service that she was previously largely unaware of. Dawn also speaks about her enthusiasm for projects such as Serving Our Country and the pride her mum took in attending Anzac Day parades.

This interview took place on 23 October 2014 in Newcastle and was conducted by Professor John Maynard as part of the Australian Research Council-funded research project Serving our Country: a history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the defence of Australia.
